Buckingham Township

Buckingham Township has its own place of importance in the history of the Revolutionary War. Just prior to the war, Buckingham Mountain served as the hide-out for a notorious band of pro British robbers. In 1775-76, however, local politics took a turn and the village of Buckingham became the headquarters of General Nathaniel Green, whose efforts helped to ensure the success of George Washington and his men crossing the Delaware. Agricultural ventures have been highly successful over the years and, in 1966, Buckingham Vineyards and Winery was founded; today it produces estate-bottled vintage varietal wines. Also located in this township is the popular shopping center, Peddler’s Village. The Township is 33.11 square miles and has a population of 16,508.

The Buckingham Township 2006 total property tax mill rate is 125.72211.
